DAYTON, OH GSA | WORKPLACE DESIGN | 2022
Montgomery County Offices were looking for a refresh. We had a challenge to create a space for them that embodies their forward-thinking and progressive ideas, while staying within a conservative budget.
Yearning for a different look, while needed to stay within the constraints of the existing walls surrounding the perimeter, we decided to integrate ribbon lights with acoustic baffles to highlight the ebb and flow of space.
To fulfill their desire of connecting the private offices to the central areas, clerestory windows were added to the joining walls. This allows the light from the central area to bleed in without sacrificing the need for privacy.

From Breaking Tradition to Taking a Break!
MCO's color palette was used to stay consistent throughout the floor plate. Certain finishes were used to mask unwanted design flaws they had prior to the redesign... For example, Finger print-free HPL was used on their casework to ensure durability and for its easy-to-maintain features. Quartz counter tops provide the look and function they need. Easy-to-maintain, texture-free laminate floors throughout the break room to give a relaxed, hospitality feel.

Making the Most Out of a Space
Acoustic baffles were installed from one end of the room to the other to meet sound-absorption goal. Soft colored ceramic tiles and casework at refreshment stations allows the baffles and dramatic flooring design to act as a statement piece.

No space was left untouched and unbranded. Custom cabinetry at the lobby entrance will act as a history display for Montgomery county. Hot-desking station across the display allows for versatility use of space.
